Early Language (Ages 1-2)

  • This consultation is for children between the ages of 12 months and 3 years old who may be facing difficulties in understanding, production, and use of language.

During your session, our speech pathologist will assess your child’s receptive, expressive, pragmatic, and motor speech development. We use playful games to aid the assessment process and keep it fun for your little one. As parents, you are encouraged to take part in the sessions so we can give you tips and suggestions on how to enhance your child's language development through everyday activities at home and in the community.

After the consultation, you will be given a written report of your child's visit that will include detailed information on their strengths and weaknesses. One month later, we'll have a follow-up meeting with you to informally assess progress. If you're still unsure or concerned about your child’s language development, we would be more than happy to discuss more intensive interventions with you.

  • An early language evaluation will allow us to get a better understanding of your 1-3 year old's current speech-language skills and identify any areas of difficulty.

We use informal measures such as checklists and parent input as well as standardized assessments to get an understanding of your child's abilities in language acquisition and speech sound development.

After the evaluation you will get a comprehensive report with recommendations and a treatment plan.
